YesScotland.com : A view of Loch Tay Located at the east end of Loch Tay. The recorded village history starts in the 16th century but there has been settlements in the area for much longer than this, as witnessed by the many crannogs and stone circles in the area. These are thousandS of years old.
The village itself is relatively new (1540). The early village was called Inchadney and was located about 2 miles away on a ford of the River Tay.
The new village was built as a "model" village by the Breadalbanes. Cottages were provided for local people free of charge as long as they brought a skill to the area. You will find a plaque on the wall of one of the cottages which was dedicated to the village nurse.
The Square has remained as it was, and it still has its character and charm intact.
