Main towns include Alloa, the county town, Dollar (famous for its old school Dollar Academy), Tillicoutry, Alva and Clackmannan itself. Situated on the north shores of the River Forth between Dunfermline (Fife) and Stirling with the Ochil Hills lying to the north of the county.
The River Devon flows through the western part of the county joining the Forth at Tullibody. The highest point is Ben Cleuch in the Ochils (721m) which overlooks both Alva and Tillicoultry.
