YesScotland.com : A view of Largs Beach The resort town of Largs is in North Ayrshire.

It has a busy sea front with amusements and boating from the shingle beach.

Sites of interest include Douglas Park, which contains the Pencil Tower built in 1910 to commemorate events from 1263 when King Alexander III defeated the Viking King Haakon at the Battle of Largs. The battle was fought on both land and sea for two days and resulted in Norway giving up the Hebrides and the Isle of Man to the Scots.

There is a mainline rail station and ferries run to the island of Cumbrae (Millport ) on the Firth of Clyde.
