ArdgayScotland > Highland Counties > Sutherland > Ardgay On the "old" A9, now the A836 1 mile south of Bonar Bridge on the Inner Dornoch Firth. This small, once market town, lies at the head of Strathcarron, infamous for the cruel "clearances" of the 18th and 19th centuries. James Loch and Patrick Sellar are names to avoid here, both being connected to the task of clearing the people from the land to make it more efficient in terms of production and financially more viable for the landowners.
