Lybster

Scotland > Highland Counties > Caithness > Lybster

Located 8 miles south of Wick, this is one of the largest villages in Sutherland. Originally planned and laid out as a model fishing village by Sur John Sinclair of Ulbster. His legacy is a village with fine wide streets and solid stone built houses. At the end of the village the road leads down to one of the sheltered harbours. The area around the village is rich in ruins from ancient times - Broches, Standing Stones and Chambered Cairns.
