Athelstaneford

Scotland > Central Scotland > East Lothian > Athelstaneford

Just off the A1 between Haddington and East Linton. Folklore has it that a battle fought here in the 10th century between the picts/Scots and a Saxon King called Athelstan resulted in the St Andrews Cross becoming the Scottish Flag.

The church in the village dates back to the 11th century but has been rebuilt in the 20th century.
