An ancient area of northern Perthsire better known today for its constituent parts e.g. Blair Atholl, Blair Castle, Glen Garry, Forest of Atholl etc along the A9 from Perth to Inverness. Very high within the Grampian Mountains.

Blair Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Atholl and the home of the only private army in the UK, the Atholl Highlanders.
