YesScotland.com : A view of Tarbert Loch Fyne Tarbert, Loch Fyne, is located off the A83, 14 miles south of Lochgilphead and is known as the gateway to Kintyre. The village with its pretty working harbour bordered with shops, pubs, hotels and houses ranged around it, is renowned for the finest seafood in Scotland, caught in the clear waters of Loch Fyne.

The castle that overlooks the harbour dates from 1494 and was built in the reign of King James IV.

The fishing fleet based here and at West Loch Tarbert land quality seafood including prawns, mackerel, herring and scallops and are distrubuted as far afield as France and Spain.

Tarbert is the home to the last seafood festival on the west coast of Scotland, with stalls, a raft race, sales of fresh seafood, entertainment, music and cookery demonstrations.
