Tarbolton lies 4 miles west of Mauchline and east of Troon in South Ayrshire. It is in Tarbolton that the poet Robert Burns and friends established in 1780 the Batchelor's Club. The 17th century thatched cottage has been renovated and is now under the ownership of the National Trust for Scotland.
