YesScotland.com : Over to Banff The county town of Banff sits at the mouth of the River Deveron, on the Moray Firth.

It was made a Royal Burgh in 1371. Like so many coastal town on the Moray Firth, Banff used to be an imprtant seaport and flourished in the 18th centuary after its harbour was built. There are a few good examples of buildings which have survived from this time - Banff Castle, built in 1750 and Duff House in 1740.

The town today is a quiet holiday destination with great coastal scenery and sandy beaches. Located on the A98, 47 miles North West of Aberdeen.
