Bowden

Scotland > South of Scotland > Roxburghshire > Bowden

This small Borders village lies just south of Melrose under the 3 peaks of the Eildon Hills, alternatively known as Trimontium the Roman name.

The village has a church dating back to the 12th century but the 16th century Market Cross indicates that the village used to be a notable market for the surrounding area. The Cross is now used as a war memorial.

The village, today, is a very pleasant residential village well situated for the beautiful town of Melrose and the A68 north to Edinburgh.
