Callander

Scotland > East of Scotland > Perthshire > Callander

Located on the A84 16 miles north west of Stirling. This small Scots Burgh lies at the junction of the Rivers Tieth and Lemy on the edge of the Trossachs.
It is a popular holiday destination and base for touring the Trossachs and Loch Katrine to the west.
It was laid out in the 18th century with its focal point the well proportioned Ancaster Square in front of the Church of St. Kessog. The saint, a missionary from Ireland preached beside the Teith more than 15 centuries ago.
There are several scenic walks around the town, with great views to the hills and beyond.
