On the nothernmost island in the UK, Unst, this used to be the main centre for the herring industry in Scotland and up until recently the local airport was the main "feeder" for the North Sea Oil Industry in the Shetland Isles. It has been associated with fishing for centuries - whaling, seals and fish - but is now just the main centre on the island with schools, shops, leisure centre and its own brewery!
