Aberdour

Scotland > Central Scotland > Fife > Aberdour

The Silver Sands, Aberdour. Once a thriving little fishing port on the northern shores of the Firth of Forth overlooking Edinburgh. Now a picturesque seaside village and popular residential area with a fine beach and golf course. The ancient ruined Church of St Bridget dates back to the 12th century. The ruined castle dates between 14th and 17th century. In 1592 the Earl of Moray was murdered by the Earl of Huntly at nearby Donnibristle. During the summer months there are boat trips to Inchcolm Island in the First of Forth.
