Dalmellington

A small village lying 800ft above sea level, with areas of natural beauty all round. Bogton Loch lies to the west and is threaded by the River Doon, to the north, Benbeoch stands at 1,521ft and gives a good viewpoint to see this pictureque area. A collection of steam and diesel locomotives can be seen at the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre on the site of a former mine. Modern Dalmellington is now closely linked to open cast mining and forest working in the surrounding areas.
