Darnaway Castle

Scotland > East of Scotland > Moray > Darnaway Castle

The ancient seat for the Earls of Moray, Darnaway Castle sits amidst dense forest land 3miles south west of Forres. The original castle had ever changing owners until finally acquired by the Stuarts in 1562.
Designed in 1802 by Alexander Laing for the 9th Earl of Moray, the modern day castle is a representation of a Gothic French mansion.
