4 miles west of Spean Bridge and the home of Lochiel (the late Sir Donald Cameron of Lochiel) and Lady Cameron. Achnacarry Castle is also well known to the Commandos as one of their training headquarters during the second world war. Some excellent walks from Gairlochy via Achnacarry to Loch Arkaig through the Dark Mile (book by DK Broster) and past the Witches' Cauldron - pool and waterfall.
