East Linton

Scotland > Central Scotland > East Lothian > East Linton

About 22 miles East of Edinburgh and situation on the River Tyne, East Linton has a 16c bridge which strengthens the link with the Edinburgh/London road.
In the village there is an 18c Parish Church with graves of many people who were important to agriculture, including the inventor of the threshing machine, Andrew Meikle.
During the 19c East Linton had a cattle market, and also the village held weekly hiring (feeing) markets for migrant farm labourers.
