Athough much changed over the years, Airdrie has retained the atmosphere of a country market town. It has had a long and illustrious industrial history, most notably for the production of steel. It is located 11 miles east of Glasgow. It has its own football club, Airdrie United FC, a thriving shopping centre and many local amenities.
