Known all over the world as the birthplace of Scotland's national bard, the poet Robert Burns in 1759.

The thatched, white washed cottage where Burns was born and lived for 7 years is an object of pilgrimage for the poet's admirers from all over the globe.

More Burns artifacts can be seen at the Land o' Burns Centre next to Alloway Kirk.

The village is 3 miles from Ayr and is rightly at the heart of Burns country.
